Volkswagen to beat own forecast

Germany’s Volkswagen AG may become the world’s biggest carmaker by volume in 2012, beating even its own forecast by six years, according to the Executive Edition of Automotive News Europe released today. An executive present at a high-level meeting revealed the internal forecast to ANE. According to Goldman Sachs, VW will have 4.5 billion euros in operating profit this year with that figure increasing to 6.5 billion euros in 2011 and 8.5 billion euros in 2012.

After poaching former Continental CEO Karl-Thomas Neumann and former Opel Management Director Hans Demant, the company is still working to recruit talent from European rivals, according to ANE. VW is looking to headhunters to fill 40 additional slots to support the company’s international expansion, reports the publication without citing its sources.
